Data and Properties

Pure aluminum nitrate is available in the form of colorless crystals or as a white powder. The strongly oxidizing solid dissolves quickly in air and, as an anhydrous salt, has no melting point but decomposes at temperatures above 150 °C. The aluminum salt of nitric acid crystallizes from water as aluminium nitrate nonahydrate.
